Monthly IKIGAI Gatherings

Our monthly IKIGAI Gatherings: Every 3rd Thursday at 3:00 PM

Discover the Essence of IKIGAI Beyond the Venn Diagram

This monthly circle invites you to explore IKIGAI as a deeply rooted Japanese concept that transcends the simplicity of a diagram. It is a practice and philosophy that asks us to engage with what makes life truly meaningful.

We will explore the work of Mieko Kamiya, whose development of the seven dimensions of IKIGAI was informed by her work as a psychiatrist. Her approach provides insights into how meaning can be found even in the face of adversity, making IKIGAI relevant to both individual and collective well-being.

We will also discuss the relationship between IKIGAI and Logotherapy, focusing on how IKIGAI aligns with Viktor Frankl’s existential search for purpose. Kamiya’s integration of Japanese philosophy with Western psychology offers a nuanced perspective on resilience and meaning.

Through the IKIGAI Finder, a practical model based on Ken Mogi’s five foundational pillars of IKIGAI (expanded to include a sixth), you will learn how to apply these principles to daily life. This model highlights how small, consistent actions can help cultivate a life of purpose and fulfillment.

Each session will be facilitated by Motoki, an IKIGAI Coach and author (Penguin Random House), who brings a thoughtful approach to exploring IKIGAI through reflection and guided exercises. Accompanying this will be the original piano compositions of Michael Nickel, whose music exemplifies how creative practice can embody IKIGAI.

This circle is for:

  • Coaches, counselors, and mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of meaning-based practices.

  • Corporate leaders and HR professionals interested in fostering purpose and resilience in their teams.

  • Anyone committed to exploring what gives life value, meaning and direction.

Join us as we come together monthly to reflect, learn, and engage with the philosophy and practice of IKIGAI.
